I want to take a moment to let you know what you have done for my family and more importantly for our son.
About a year ago, we were at the end of our rope...all of us. We were on the cusp of losing Grant and his desire to learn. His teachers were threatening to hold him back due to his test scores and struggles in class. They recommended evaluation for Dyslexia and Learning Disabilities, but gave us very little in the way of how to have him evaluated or help him engage in his learning. We felt lost and frustrated. We spent so much money and time getting him tested to find out he was normal, but still didn't know how to best help him. His teachers told us to just read with him, that it would get better. We have been doing that since he was 2.
I couldn't be happier that we found Tomi and her team through a mutual friend and educator. She has made such a difference in Grant's learning experience. She keeps him engaged, laughing and learning. He has gone from reading 2 grade levels behind to confidently reading on grade level and even comprehending 5th grade reading levels. I know that standardized test scores are not a marker of his knowledge, but that is what his educators were going to use to hold him back.
I am thrilled to report that his scores have increased 11pts from September to March this year. Can I say it again, this year, the year of distance learning and pandemic, his Reading MAP scores have increased 11 points. But more importantly, his confidence has increased exponentially. He is engaged in his learning and proud of his work. He doesn't say things like, "I'm so stupid!" when he is frustrated.
Bright Educational Services is more than just a tutoring program, they are interventionists. Grant's new found confidence in reading, testing and learning skills is worth so much more than I can ever repay Tomi and her team. We are forever grateful to have been led to them. Thanks Bright Team!!!!
When our family was referred to Tomi Sue, we were in what felt like an increasingly desperate situation. We had decided to pull our daughter, Sahari, out of school and home-school her because we didn't feel as though she was getting the support she needed.
We struggled as Sahari seemingly became less and less interested in learning, and not knowing how to best support her. When she started working with Tomi Sue, everything changed.
Tomi Sue's way of connecting with her and relating to her changed everything. Sahari's confidence immediately improved and as her reading ability improved, she became more and more interested in every other subject. She went from crying when asked to read, to disappearing to her room for hours to read on her own. Reading is now one of her favorite past times.
Working with Tomi Sue and her team has been nothing short of miraculous for our family.
